Tennant Creek Comes Together for Violence Free Community

The Tennant Creek community came together recently in a show of strength for a future free of violence. An estimated 300 people, led by the Tennant Creek Primary School, marched through the main street in a sea of orange on Friday 25 November 2019. Ms Susan Jones conducted a Welcome to Country and students and community leaders giving speeches pledging against violence. The event finished with a community barbecue for all those involved.

The NO MORE Violence March came about through a partnership between the Tennant Creek Primary School and NO MORE that will only continue to strengthen after the success of this event.

The students and teachers worked together to create a story about why violence in communities hurts kids. The book was printed by Papulu Apparr-kari Aboriginal Corporation and launched at the march. It is available for sale for $5 and can be ordered by emailing tennantcreek@catholiccarent.org.au.
