Cricketers support the NO MORE Campaign
The Darwin & Districts Cricket Competition has shown support for the NO MORE campaign, with Round 7 matches this past weekend dedicated to spreading the NO MORE message.
In addition, Friday's One Day match between the NT Invitational XI and Kenya will also commence with a recognition of the NO MORE message prior to the start of play.
The NO MORE campaign uses the community power of sport to change the way the public views family violence. Teams will link arms prior to the start of the match, in a symbolic statement to show that everyone who links up is committed to ending the violence no matter where or who they are.
Darwin & Districts Cricket Competition Chairperson Julie Page is pleased to see clubs support the NO MORE campaign message. “This is an important show of support for a very real social issue and we will do whatever we can do to highlight the issue of family violence.
“Our clubs are working on developing Domestic Violence Action Plans and I anticipate that this weekend’s link up and reflection will help to continue the important conversations in our clubs around domestic violence,” she said.
NO MORE founder Charlie King is pleased to see cricket continue their support of the campaign. “We applaud the DDCC’s commitment to making a strong stand against family violence. The linking of arms is a starting point in the campaign and we are looking forward to working closely with the local cricket community to develop their Domestic Violence Action Plans,” he said.
